I named this piece based on my own journey into brain chemistry. What I’ve noticed is that when I let myself have moments of boredom (which in the past, I have avoided) - I feel more balanced. I don’t chase quick hits of dopamine or other neurochemicals that can imbalance the brain, the body and long-term health. This is an ongoing journey where I try to notice the richness of the moment, as opposed to thrill-seeking, being in unhealthy relationships, junk food, mindlessly scrolling on social media, and more. Instead, I focus on slow-release dopamine such as creative projects, deep focus, breathing techniques, or just doing nothing; and being ok with it.
