• As long as you bring yourself, we will put a smile on your face, wonder in your eyes and probably some sweat on your forehead!

We do recommend that you wear comfortable hiking shoes with a non-slip sole and long trousers. The area is NOT mosquito infested, but there are always some, so if you know your are a mosquito's favourite, wear a light long sleeved shirt. We normally carry repellent and sunscreen, but you might prefer your own. Most of the hike is in the shade, but you might want to bring a hat as well.

We also recommend bringing your refillable water bottle.

If you need any medication, remember to bring it and don't forget to advise our team about any medical conditions you might have.

Of course you can also bring your binoculars, camera or favourite hiking stick- just remember you will have to carry it and look after it.

  • Because the ecosystem here is so fragile and Katja is committed to preserving that, you will have to leave your pets at home. However, if you depend on a guide animal for any reason to get around please contact us to discuss your needs and we will see if we can make it happen.

Please refrain from bringing single use plastic. We are aiming to be zero waste and that is already enough of a challenge without a daily addition of plastic wrappers and bags.

Thank you for helping us preserve the pristine beauty of this Nature Reserve.

  • Luckily, there are no major concerns as far as animals, and there has never been a dangerous encounter with an animal at Natikari Reserve.

We will ask that you ask Katja about plant species before handling them, as there are rare cases where some plants can cause an allergic reaction in some people. And we ask that do not ingest any plants.

Other than that, you are very safe in this Nature Reserve.

Please note that we do have all details written out in our liability form, which you’ll get upon your arrival for Wild Canvas.

  • Seasons in the area change and affect the Jungle in terms of lushness and greenery, but there are always many pieces of nature to explore at Natikari - birds, trees and shrubs, insects, rock formations and more.

The most lush months in this area are August - November. From November - July, there’s not much rain and things dry out. And from July-November, we’re in summer/ rainy season, when the jungle is at it’s most lush due to ongoing tropical rainfall. Each season offers it’s own natural gifts to explore.

  • Most of the terrain is fairly flat, and a very low incline. There are sections of the trail that are a steeper incline, and would be considered medium in the hiking difficulty scale. These sections are small and very manageable for anyone in good health. However, if you have any injuries or cardiovascular challenges that prohibit you from walking at an incline, or for distances, please contact us and we will let you know if the tour is appropriate for you, or not.

  • There are resident donkeys, very friendly, who live on the reserve with Katja. If your group wants them to join us, we can bring them along. They are friendly and very easy going. Guests are not permitted to ride the donkeys.

If you’d prefer we leave them at the jungle “office”, we are happy to leave them there where they graze and rest, also happily.
